DURING QUARTER 1...
Holocaust and genocide
This is my Holocaust and Genocide class, where I do many fun projects and learn about the Holocaust. My favorite assignment that we did in this class was the Suitcase Project. we had been learning about how Jews always had to be on the run, so they only took what they could carry in a suitcase. These suitcases held sentimental and precious items, wealthy or not. Our assignment was to choose 4 items that we would pack in a suitcase and explain why we chose them, a type of image and why the owner of the suitcase packed it. We also had to create a written component that was the owner's. I went above and beyond to create an actual cardboard suitcase with which I put in the items I chose with the printed description. My written component was a letter by a teenage Jewish girl in hiding to her aunt, who lives in Sweden. Something I did well was including emotion and details to the letter and creating a sentimental and valuable back story behind every packed item. I also incorporated an extra item that was secretly hidden/sewed into the suitcase for the owner's aunt's eyes only. Something I could have done better could be attaching the handle straps/buckles on better so that they don't fall apart, but no one's perfect! I learned how Jews back then felt, in panic and on the run and that inspired me to get in character when writing the letters.

transformational leadership
This is my second period Strand class that I go to everyday after my Holocaust and Genocide class. In this class, I learn to be a leader that changes and adapts to the needs and desires of the followers. Though I plan to be a pediatrician one day, having leader skills can be very helpful when working with little kids. One assignment that I rather enjoyed and could express myself in was drafting a Teaching philosophy. A philosophy is just a way of mind and doing things which is different for every one. We had to create our own, using our goals and beliefs. I included in my philosophy about my major beliefs, goals and action plans. Something I did well was phrase my point fairly exceptional and included a lot of details. Something I could have improved was coming up with more sophisticated characteristics rather than just "kind" and "caring".
