A project that I enjoyed working on in the second quarter of my Holocaust and Genocide Studies class was the "Use Your Voice" Genocide project. It was where we could each work on our own or with a partner to research a genocide, of our choosing from the options provided, that is not focused on as much as the Holocaust. Then we were to pick a form of speech/ getting word out. My partner and I decided to make a, and recognizing/spreading awareness of the genocide. However, though the requirement was only 2 pages, my partner (and best friend) Angeliz and I did...a few more than 2 pages...let's just say it was maybe, probably most definitely 5 pages. For extra credit, and since we were done early, we decided to screen cast it, so basically record a screen of images about the genocide and do a voice-over of us reading the speech. The genocide we chose was the Genocide of Native Americans, which basically when European colonists killed several natives with the excuse of Manifest Destiny

Something we did well was include several facts and important information. What we could have done better was speak louder and clearer when recording our voices. What we learned was how harsh the American/Europeans were when evicting invading the Natives' land and killing them off as a manner of making their own lives better.

Motivational Speech Part 1
Motivational Speech Part 2

An assignment that I enjoyed doing in Quarter 2 of this class was the motivational speech we had to do. We had to choose a certain audience that we would be speaking to. We wrote it in a persona that we had already achieved our dream career and were speaking about it to a crowd. It was to speak about our job and what it took to get there. I wrote a long speech, starting with a story and getting formal with the crowd and speaking to them as if I am one of their own, someone that they can trust. I mean, would you talk to a doctor like the way you talk to your friends? The audience I chose was a group of underprivileged people and kids in a hospital, in consideration of the less fortunate and the fact my dream career is a pediatrician, a children's' doctor so it fits! also, I put in a little poem about motivation that I made myself!

Something I did well was captivating the audience with my anecdote and put them at ease with a friendly tone. Something I could have done better was include some other details/ statements that could connect to the children's dream careers. something I learned was how it is good to sometimes ask others how they feel rather than talking about yourself and your success all the time.
